2025 Wrap Up Post
So, I guess there goes 2025. I’m a bit late on the wrap up post, though as much as I’d like to blame a cold I’ve been dealing with for a while (lol I wrote that several days ago when drafting, and I’ve still just now gotten around to posting my finished draft), it’s mostly just laziness. All things considered, it’s been a pretty eventful year for myself - namely that I left my job and returned to my home state. It’s been a little busy, and finding local work has been a slog, but all things considered it’s been a good year (and a very extended vacation has been nice).
In 2025 I made 8 blog posts, totalling around 36k words. Less than last year, mostly just because I’ve been busier (or at least in less of a normal routine, which would usually have me writing more). There weren’t really any happenings to make note of in regards to my writing, although of course, a big thanks to those who sent compliments, thoughts, and corrections to my posts via email and socials.
Traffic Logs
Anyway, I figured I’d also continue my little tradition of logging into Cloudflare and checking December’s logs, which I did remember to do sometime on the 31st.
My unique visitors were definitely up in Dec ‘25 compared to the previous year, although I have a feeling that’s an exception. You can see the big jump right around when I released my Microblogging protocols update. It makes sense, I think a lot of people found my blog when I did my original microblogging protocols comparison, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a related post got a lot more traffic than usual.
There’s also a fairly similar country makeup to previous years. The US is big, and I’m from there, so it’d make sense American traffic would be the highest. Though of course German traffic was very high up there, and more than half the traffic I got came from countries where English is not the primary language. Like I’ve mentioned in my previous posts, it’s cool to see the world so interconnected.
Upcoming Posts
I’ve got a handful of posts I’ve been slowly working on, the most notable one probably being a third version of my Microblogging Protocols post. V2 is really long, and slightly out of date, so I might as well edit it down and bring it up to date.
I’ve also got a couple other random posts I’ve been working on and/or considering:
- My really lightweight Debian installation on an old Chromebook
- My experimentation with ‘Digicams’
- Contemplation of writing on protocols aimed for longevity/immune to linkrot and centralized servers
- Books and the annoying state ebooks are in
- Replacing a VPSs with a makeshift home server
- My experimentation with my ‘Miniblog’
Untitled Conclusion
Anyway, that’s about everything I had on my mind. Thanks for taking the time to read, wishing you all a belated happy new year.
